SUMMARY:Field Visit to HART (Himalayan Animal Rescue Trust)
DESCRIPTION:Coming together is a beginning\, staying together is progress\, and working together is success. \n\nAbout this Program:\nHimalayan Animal Rescue Trust (HART) has been working continuously for the animals of Nepal since its establishment in 2010. HART is based in Pokhara and Bharatpur and is engaged in animal welfare work throughout Nepal. HART focuses on rabies eradication\, which is one of the oldest zoonotic diseases\, by mass neutering\, and community education. HART has been collaborating with Merit Nepal on various events and campaigns. HART has provided continuous support since the early days of Merit Pokhara. With the hope of flourishing the collaboration more and more\, members of Pokhara visited HART on World Merit Day\, July 24\, 2022. The motto of the visit was to gain knowledge about the working mechanism of HART and also know more about pet animals. \nHow those problems were tackled or new stuff/area raised/covered:\nThe visit was attained by 7 members of Merit Nepal. The visit dispersed information regarding the working mechanism of HART\, the work HART had been doing for over a decade\, and the contribution of HART to animal welfare. Members were also able to spend some time with vets and learn about veterinary services. \nFurthermore\, through informal discussion\, members got a chance to clarify their doubts and gain further information. Mr. Khageshwaar Sharma\, Chair/Trustee of HART\, also joined the discussion. Mr. Sharma appreciated the work\, events\, and campaign that Merit had been doing\, which inspired our members to do more in the upcoming events. \n  \n  \nFindings:\nThrough the visit we were able to: \n\nGain knowledge about the working mechanism of HART.\nStrengthen the working relationship between the two organizations.\nGain knowledge about behavior\, needs\, and common diseases of animals\, especially dogs.\nProvide small contributions towards feeding animals by donating food items.\n\nPriority SDGS:\nWith the successful program\, we’re able to touch and localize the following SDGs. \nSDG 17: Partnership for the Goals \n  \n

SUMMARY:Securing Gandakian Cyberspace
DESCRIPTION:Empowering Guardians of Gandaki: Fortifying Cyberfronts with Cutting-Edge Security Training for Professionals and Bureaucrats! \n\n\n\n\nAbout this Program:\n\n\n\nCybercrimes like hacking\, identity theft\, and online bullying are increasing globally. To address this\, a cybersecurity awareness program was held to reach government representatives including police personnel from the Chief District Administrative Officer and representatives of the ministry and train them on securing cyberspace to reduce frequent cyber-attacks and data piracy happening in Nepal. \n\n\n\nHow those problems were tackled or new stuff/area raised/covered:\n\n\n\nThe program covered topics like internet security\, external/internal cyber threats\, data encryption\, phishing\, safe web habits\, and business impacts of illegal downloads. Cybersecurity experts used visual teaching methods and direct Q&A sessions to make the training interactive. It focused primarily on protecting the confidentiality\, integrity and availability (CIA) of an organization or government’s information and information assets and promoting online security for the public.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFindings:\n\n\n\nIn association with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law\, Gandaki Province\, with coordination of state police office Gandaki and Cryptogen Nepal\, we conducted the program “Securing Gandakian Cyberspace” successfully to police officers and some governmental representatives. 32 police officers from 11 districts of Gandaki Province and government representatives were benefitted.  \n\n\n\nPriority SDGS:\n\n\n\nThe program promoted effective governance and sustainable intelligence system of the country incorporating the following SDGs. \n\n\n\nSDG 16: Peace\, Justice and Strong Institutions
